SmoothTrack: Head Tracker App Reviews

Worth reviewing which I never do, but this app is amazing. Was researching head tracking products we have all heard of before and somehow through the rabbit hole heard of this working with an open source program. After about 10 minutes I was already using it for American truck simulator. Can’t wait to try it on flight sims now. For the cost of this app I have a head tracking program and don’t need to wear anything! Well done! Worth every penny

The tracking is phenomenal, especially with my IPhones high frame rates, at 120 FPS, it’s amazing, but the software they use to interface with OpenTrack crashes every time I launch, or is stopped by firewall, I let it bypass the firewall, launch it, and it still crashes. I hope I can get it working.

Highly recommend this app, its features are top notch i cannot game without it anymore. For the price there is no match and the setup takes less than 2 min especially if you watch a guide on youtube. I use it for American truck sim and msfs 2020 and have been recently learning in another mod/game called falcon bms and it makes using the cockpit 10x easier. For the price you literally cannot beat it. 10/10

I use SmoothTrack along with opentrack for head tracking in flight sims. This app works flawlessly, even in a dimly lit room and I don’t need to attach anything to my head.

I was hesitant for a little while how well this would work for DCS/MSFS but after buying it I can say I’m utterly impressed. It is a professional and well crafted product and was practically effortless to setup. Only about 1-2 hours to perfect my curves without any prior experience and getting it working perfectly how I want it. Nothing more to say than if you have any interest in this just buy it! It’s nothing short of spectacular!

I was thinking of getting the trackingir from Amazon but after watching a few YouTube videos i stumbled upon Smooth tracking and it works so well. I saved myself $130 dollars and it’s worth it in my honest opinion.

Highly recommend this to any simulator user. 👍 Recent updates - more like an overhaul - are excellent! My iPhone is held by an arm that I bought on Amazon; the arm is not touching my sim rig at all in order to avoid interference by shaking. 🫨 This app allows me to look around any cockpit - plane or race car- just like the real thing.

It took me about 2 hours to finally get it to work but only because I was partially ignore to the instructions. If you follow the instructions very carefully it works perfectly. If anyone is wondering it does work with American Truck simulator and Farming simulator automatically once tracking is setup. 10/10

Great for flight sims, i use it in arma, dcs, and war thunder to great effect. Cheap, effective, greatly enhanced abilities

This is a great app, works flawlessly for flight sims. I would like however the optio to use backside camera instead of the front camera.

For just 10 bucks you get a head tracking solution that drastically improves your experience in games like MS Flight Simulator. If you don’t already have dedicated head tracking hardware this is a no brainer. Tip: gradually increase the sensitivity as you get accustomed to the motion so you can look all the way to the side without twisting your neck and eyeballs too much.

For someone without a dedicated set up and on a budget this app is a life saver. Never had a single issue and is so easy to use. Recommend to everyone getting into the sim world. Thanks Dev!

App works as advertised, but doesn’t appear to be able to stay connected in the background (so won’t work if you also want to run an instrument panel or flight planning app simultaneously on the same device).

Works with ATS and Euro truck! Worth the purchase.

I use this with MSFS and it adds so much. VR isn’t great as I need access to my notepad when talking to ATC and throttle controls. This adds that VR realism. The new update to account for camera angle helps so much.

Great face tracking tool and responsive dev.

I’m using this in USB mode with DCS and the A10C module. It works incredibly well. Follow the instructions on the support website to a T and it will work. I was previously using AI track and a PS2 eye, which worked ok - this is better, much better. Well worth the price. I’m so glad I tried this before shelling out the money for trackir.

I’m using this for DCS and it is great! The tracking is smooth and it automatically connects to DCS as soon as I open the game. My only grievance is that connecting it to the pc can be a little annoying at times but it is well worth it.

A fantastic head tracker for 10 bucks. A game changer. Setup was pretty quick, I use it every day.

This app is a great headtracker if you’re on a budget, but there are some things that aren’t perfect. One of them being that it eats through a phone battery real quick, i recommend using it on low power mode. The other being it loses track of your head if you turn horizontal to it, but i can’t ask for too much from a phone camera. Overall a great option if you need a fast and cheap headtracker.

This app literally saved me $190 because I almost bought a trackIR to play DCS and MFS2020. I have an Oculus, but it gets annoying sometimes I have an iPhone 13 pro max, works flawlessly. 10/10 recommend

This ten dollar app is better than expensive peripherals like Tobii or Track IR. Up and running in less than ten minutes, works flawlessly. Saved me 200 bucks since I no longer need extra hardware! Support this dude he deserves it.

I don’t write reviews. But I really wanted for this one. It Works perfectly with Microsoft flight sim 2020. Easy to setup and works flawlessly. I used Track IR 4 in the past. I honestly don’t see a difference except this is a $10 solution 🤯

Fantastic. Very little fine tuning (basically just adjusting sensitivity on app screen that’s fairly obviously displayed) required to get the right amount of movement.

Wish I had this for FSX back in the day. Works amazing and flawlessly. Simply amazing and brings out the awesome scenery even more in MSFS 2020. A must have if you are not going the very expensive route of VR.

Using this for MSFS2020. Was skeptical, but this is the real deal. Worked straight away with default settings. Very impressed. Best money I’ve ever spent on an app.

It works like a charm if you can’t afford Track IR don’t worry smooth track is the same thing as Track IR, its confusing at first but its super fun, this is crazy on how it works!

I used trackir5 and it overheated and quit working within a week. Tried SmoothTrack and wow. Incredible. Just as good. No difference. Everyone who flies or races needs this.

Hey John. So I have opened my firewall etc. I’m not exactly sure how to get the modem part set up correctly. When I hit start I get a “broken pipe” error message. Just wondering if you have any pointers for me. Thanks

Runs robustly once set up, tracking is precise with no tracking lag, but I’ve got some minuscule frame lag (very subtle) I still need to optimize on the Opentrack side of things (open source software on the PC).

Set up is very easy. Tracking is simply amazing. Much easier than trackir. And developer is working on improvements( he is popular on r/flightsim) . Buy with confidence

Works great for FS 2020. Easy to set up - just google how to do it, and you’ll figure out the rest! Pretty easy.

First time using headtracking and it makes the immersion level so much better , setup took two minutes works in FSX no problems

Works very well indeed with Flight Sim 2020 + iPad. Transforms the whole experience. I have an Oculus and was waiting for a future patch to go VR but this is a step closer to that. Developer is incredibly responsive.

Best application for this type of need. VR for little cost and working efficiently. Service is great, developer answers emails within minutes if you need set-up help.
