37 Positive User Reviews for Speedtest by Ookla

Quick and easy

Great speed tester!

Much better after updates.

Updates are more user friendly. Reports are more easily understood.

My review

Awesome, but would be nice to see the speed where you are more quickly.

Great speed test

Because it gives you which net ur on and it shows mbps

Suggestion for improving your app

Please add an option that allows users to test upload and download speed separately

No automatic test

I keep looking for an app that does automatic test through out the day. I’m willing to pay for it, and there is none.

OOKLA works

I have been using OOKLA for almost ten years now, and it typically gives valid results, though I think maybe ISPs have caught on and boost their speed a bit when they see it is an OOKLA test coming their way.

Latest update forces 1000 Mbps meter

Let us change the max speed for the speedometer

Great app

I love this app and find it to be good at doing every thing I need it to do. But I think it could be better at auto finding the right severs for speed test. I also wish there was less adds. But great app overall

Keep your internet provider honest

Great app to keep your internet provider honest, to check your video speed and check to see if your apps like You Tube TV are having a problem.

Wrong numbers

Today when my Netflix buffered, I checked the speed. It said 30 Mbps when my speed is 10x that. So I used Verizon app which showed close to 300 Mbps. I thought let me check other sources and they all showed around 300 Mbps including Speedtest.net website. This app doesn’t work properly or at least since the last few months.

Issue exporting results

When sending the spreadsheet both the upload and download speeds delete the decimal. For example my download shows as 87523, it’s now up to me to manually search through the results to determine where the decimal goes. Which is also fluctuating due to needing to delete results in order to share the spreadsheet in batches. In my attempt to make reporting data easier I basically wasted an entire day of testing. The issue is not on the android app only iOS

Great app

Use it to check wifi daily. Very reliable and consistent 👍

Crashing

Crashing on iPhone 12 iOS 16.4.

Great app to test speed

Great app to test network and/ or wifi speed! Thanks😀👍

Great app great tool

I’ve used Speedtest for many years and in many locations across the country. It is very helpful to me in understanding my connection and it’s dependability. I highly recommend it and will continue to rely on it in the future.

This app works great as intended!

I’ve never had any real issues. Until now. I recently upgraded to the iPhone 14 pro max through T-Mobile and now the app has trouble finding a server when testing my phones speed on 5G

👍

Confidence is tough to maintain on the net/web. The numbers I get back from Ookla seem to be accurate and honest. They have never given me a fake read that I can remember. Thanks for the free diagnostic tools!

Why the ads when I paid for ad-free?

I like the app but am not happy that I am now seeing ads when I paid for ad-free a couple of years ago. This started with the last update.

Useful in a surprising way

After years of observation we find that after weather effects bargain ISPs are about as good as any other and involve less billing hassles. Relevant to SpeedTest is that I think when whomever is our current ISP, from time to time service is throttled for one reason or another. When I notice this I bring up SpeedTest on my phone — and I think that the Current ISP is watching for this. I notice that the throttling of our bandwidth *often* is removed. I use SpeedTest as a lever to *effect* the beha

Love your app, but need Apple Watch Support!

Please add and I will update to 5 starts immediately!

Create a option to submit cellular service report

Need to create a option for users to submit a report about cellular service like no service, weak signal, drop calls, and etc. This was a feature that was available on the root metrics app before ookla discontinued the root metrics app.

Purchased App shows Ads!

I was recently surprised to see Ads have started to show up even though I purchased the App to “remove ads” several years ago! Did my purchase “expire “? I tried the “Restore Purchase” and “Remove Ads” buttons (several times) in the app but all it does is ask for another $0.99! Removing and re-installing the app does not fix the issue.

It's really good

The Ads are not inclined too much, You can choose how much Mbps the measuring thingy an display, it can show you what vidoe quality your Phone can use, it has a Website shortage detector, a map for idk what and a lot more useful features! this app has been the best Internet Testing app i've ever tried!

Reliable

Been using SpeedTest for many years. It does what you need it to do. 🤷‍♂️I don’t understand why some people are low rating.

Can’t recommend this enough!

This is my go to app for ensuring that the promised speeds are being delivered from me isp and it helps a ton with testing wi-fi networks.

Speedtest

Amazing app! Top of the industry! Should be 5 stars! No annoying adds. Has always worked perfectly!

Wish I could contribute to signal maps

I’m sure it’s not possible on iOS.

New Status Tab & Feature

The new status tab is a good idea. But we obviously need a way to filter & search the many sources. Thanks.

Downdetector - Need Favorites or Filtering

Downdetector is a great service and having it available in the app is helpful. However, please give us a way to set favorites or otherwise filter the list; I don’t need to know if the power company in a state 2000 miles away is having issues with their website.

The app need

The app need Widgets then it’s a 5 star.

Works. You pay, but they still sell your data

The app works. I’m happy to pay for the app but don’t like you still need to sell my data.

Gave it up…

…after the latest update where Ookla decided to cram as many trackers, spyware, and analytics into the app as possible — and STILL not let you deactivate all of them. I especially loved the “Sell your data?” toggle. Yeah, please don’t sell our data, Ookla. Moved over to Ookla’s mobile site — where my content blocker will take care of anything malicious. It’s a shame, really.

Great way to gauge what speeds I’m getting vs paying for

Great way to keep Verizon honest

It tells me my speed!

When are you planning to fix the graphical glitches on the 120fps iPhones? I thought for sure this would have been fixed by now after more than a year. Please make sure the app works properly with apples 120 fps technology.

Good… but needs more server locations

Good app! However, would like to see many more servers in plenty of locations including Ireland, Australia, UK (specifically Glasgow or Belfast UK as there are currently no servers present in these locations), USA and many other countries available. Overall, the servers work well and I have experienced great connection to almost all servers I have connected to since purchasing the app.

Uses up too much data

This app is good and all, but it uses up too much data when testing with data
