As someone who has skipped hundreds of hours of sponsors on chrome and firefox im perfectly happy to pay the devs 3$ in exchange for their continued updates. Keep up the good work.
I love this extension so much that I bought the App Store version even though I only use uBOrigin-compatible browsers where this is free…Linux, Mac, Windows - SponsorBlock is on all my machines - its been so invaluable I felt it was time to show the dev some ❤️ (their other app is great too!). Just fantastic.
Since this is app is sourced on GitHub anyone with a great idea and extensive coding knowledge can contribute. Won’t see that with most App Store Apps
It’s exactly like the browser extension and works perfectly, at least for me. Totally worth more than $3 and saves quite a bit of time, if you’re an avid YouTube viewer. I usually keep one ear bud in at work and watch YouTube videos 8-11 hours a day 3-4 times a week, so this is a steal!
Thank you for all of your hard work it works as expected!
Install it, set what you want & don’t want to see, and you’re all good. Almost every semi-popular video will have the sponsors/promotions marked. If you want to mark a new sections the controls are easy to understand. I consider this essential for watching YouTube nowadays
SponsorBlock is easily one of the best browser extensions ever created, it’s set & forget and saves me the time of manually skipping the sponsors!
I held off getting this for so long since I thought I didn’t mind skipping the sponsors myself. I was so wrong, this is so much better. Instead of having to tab out of my work for 20 minutes, this is great. Videos that have come out in the last 10 minutes already have its sections scoped out, the community is fast. So worth it.
This is by far the most useful extension I use behind a password manager. I hate advertising so much I paid for YouTube Premium, just to have to watch ads anyway. Well not with this! Thank you so much for making this extension.
No more creators ruining the mood of videos trying to sell you something.
I was actually pleased to see there was a charge for this. Some free things are so great that you wish there was a way to pay for them. Welcome to the App Store! Even at 2.99 it’s underpriced. It works so well you forget you have it. Thanks to the community!
It will always say no video detected, ive checked the settings and enabled the extension in both settings and safari. But it doesn't seem to work.
My favorite thing to do is to check to see just how much time of your life you’ve gotten back from all the segments that you’ve skipped
Update: looks like a ton of issues were fixed including the issue I posted. Changed review score to reflect that. It used to work in Safari (not the YT app) but it seems a month or so ago it’s definitely hit or miss, with more misses. If you watch YT in portrait mode it seems to pick up the sponsor segments but if you start a video and immediately go full screen landscape it doesn’t appear to detect the segments. You’ll need to open the settings in the address bar and refresh it so the video i
It does what it says on the tin. Good extension.
Yes I know it can be retrieved for free but Apple are not kind with their $100/year fee, so for how much I use this program I'm more than happy to have paid for this addon for the about of time it saves me.
It was working earlier today. I went back on an hour later and no segments are showing up whatsoever
Just installed the app and it worked on the iOS Safari browser but I couldn't seem to get it to work on macOS Safari. Turns out you need to go into the website settings on Safari and 'allow' it access to all the YouTube related things.
Honestly, this is a really good extension. I don't write reviews much but this developer absolutely deserves it. I pay for YouTube premium but hate sponsor segments in the videos. This absolutely that one last annoyance 10 out of 10 recommend.
Works just like the desktop version. Highly customizable settings so you can tailor it perfectly to your preferences. $3 is a great price to get rid of the annoyance of sponsors. Highly recommend
Massive improvement to the YouTube viewing experience. With how constant and intrusive advertising has become online, it's a releif to see there are ways to push back.
I was surprised to see it for $10 and not free like on desktop on browsers like Firefox I use it so much that it didn’t matter to me I know the usefulness of it outweighs that price point with this combined with an adblocker it makes the YouTube app useless to me definitely a 5/5 if you use YouTube on a browser
It makes watching yt so much better
for anyone wondering why this is paid, its because apple charges $100 to publish apps on the app store, of which the developer is only getting 50% of. ajayy definitely isn't a making millions off this, blame apple
Recently YouTube Premium raised their prices up to 18.99 per month, and for that price I am sick and tired of having to hear these sponsored ads within the videos, so I thought I would buy this app to see if it works and it actually does. Love it, everyone should buy it. It really does work.
I remember when browser extensions were cool, I'm talking back in 2006-2012. There was an extension for everything! Nowadays, browser extensions are boring, lame and many are not even worth it at all. Even userscripts are so underwhelming now. This extension is actually something different, something that you must have. I've been using the free version on Windows for a long time, but since I got a macbook, I was happy to see the extension on Safari which has become my favorite browser. Thank you
While the Firefox version is able to handle both Youtube and the Invidious frontend, this version can't seem to reliably pick up Invidious instances or even remember that you've asked it to work on 3rd-party Youtube front-ends. That said, if you're just looking to cut out the crap in your favorite Youtuber's videos, Sponsorblock is great.
Works flawlessly. Love it
New support for invidious just dropped! Thank you SO MUCH for responding to feedback from your users and implementing this feature! This app is THE BEST.
Been using this for a while on Firefox, glad to have it on Safari now. Works as expected!
I've used this extension for quite a while on Chrome and can confirm that this version works on Safari. I'll gladly pay a couple of dollars to not have every other video I watch imploring me to smash the like and subscribe buttons.
I cannot blame content creators for having to do sponsorships, self-promotion, telling you to "smash that subscribe button", that's the nature of the beast. But as a viewer those things get old fast. This extension lets you skip all of that fluff. You benefit from the large community entering that data and you can easily contribute too. Sure, you can build the extension for free yourself but to me it is worth payiing a couple bucks to not have to worry about doing so, specially every time there
I would love to see this working with Invidious as well, seeing as there aren’t really any viable open-source YouTube clients on iOS.
Although it doesn’t work on the YouTube app, I’m more than happy to use YouTube on Safari. It’s so satisfying hearing YouTubers getting interrupted thanking their sponsors and I hope more people use this app, so we can put an end to YouTube sponsorships.
The desktop version has support for 3rd party YouTube clients like invidious. It would be nice to have that, other wise it’s good: just do the setup and it’s great.
3 Negative User Reviews for SponsorBlock for Safari
At one time this extension used to obey the "Auto Skip" setting, but nowadays — and for the last couple of months — it doesn't. The sponsored segments are marked and identified but none of the skipping ever happens. And it's not just sponsors: intros, like 'n subscribes, and all the other crud no longer auto-skip. It's funny because according to the markings the program recognizing these segments. It just... doesn't skip them any more.
It works but with AdGuard you use their own media player and it doesn’t work with that. So it’s either block ads or block sponsors
This app works great…but also can go a bit overboard. I notice I’ll open a video and it will immediately skip halfway through the video! If it keeps up, I may just uninstall it, which is a shame, as I did pay money for this app, as I thought it well worth. Update: now it’s only blocking some sponsor ads, not all :( Update (Jan. 27, 2024): blocking more ads, but always messes up with YouTuber James Hoffmann. Upon clicking on the video, it will 100% of the time jump 3/4 of the way through the vide
