It is great for hand writing, but it cost extra

I use this app when I quickly have to write down some musical thoughts I don't have time to open finale. Combine with the Apple Pencil it's really nice. Later, I can import it into finale as an XML. it's really just a musical notebook for me. Definitely had to play around with it for a while in order to use it effectively. I think it's worth 10 bucks.

Woooow great App

Love it so far, take me a little to remember where the options for everything are, but with a little of practice you will find everything. Great job

Handwriting

Handwriting recognition is MILES ahead of StaffPad for half the price… very happy with symphony pro

Useful and always improving

I’ve been using this for years. Any issues I’ve had I just chalked it up to my lack of knowledge. Would like for the help section to have bigger font or at least ability to zoom in.

Please please please

Need to add guitar metronome

Editing menu doesn’t work

Can’t add measure , ending, delete measure and etc. please fix - thank you!

I wish it were perfect!

This app is very impressive. The handwriting recognition is overall great, the interface is great for ipad, but the bugs and glitches are app breaking. I have been able to use this as an ‘on-the-go’ alternative to MuseScore which is not compatible for iPad, but I am now unable to switch scores. The button to save and close is glitched and the app is unusable. I would give it 5 stars, but the bugs have been fairly consistent for the 3 years I’ve had the app. I would be happy to re-rate after an u

Great for Music Composition

As I get use to the music composition using iPhone by using SymphonyPro , you will find it so easy to put down your creative music down in music scripts. Just take time to know this app, you will love it

Complete Package, but a little glitchy

I like this app, especially the handwriting feature. However, it’s a little bit glitchy (with chord symbols in particular). Usually, saving the project and opening it again solves the problem. Still, it’s a drag to have to do this.

Latest update needs fixing

B flat instruments (clarinets and trumpets) aren’t transposing to correct key signature….. needs fixing…. Can be a great app if we clean up all the bugs

Life saver

An impressively intricate and detailed app with an incredibly friendly and easy to understand UI.

Project menu does not work

When I want to save, save and close, save as…, the project menu will open for one second and close automatically. This glitch is incredibly annoying. Thankfully, the project does seem to save, but this is a very important function (as if others weren’t important as well) and for it not to work may be enough for me to go elsewhere. I just downloaded this APP and this problem appeared from the get go.

Very handy software

As a Band Director, I’ve used Symphony Pro to arrange music for my groups. I’ve also written a few complete marching band shows using the app. It’s very intuitive, easy to use, and super neat to use.

Finally updated Jan/Feb ‘24

I have not yet had time to put the latest version of this app through all of its paces, but I wanted to make sure to adjust my review in light of the fact that the app has been updated at least twice in the past two months. I’m happy to see the developers are still active, fixing bugs.

Been using it for years…

…for transcribing, arranging and scoring, and have had no real problems [intermediate skill level]. Works well with iPad split screen if not too many other apps are open. Would be great if I had an Apple Pencil, I’m sure.

Honestly, It’s my favorite app on my iPad

3 Negative User Reviews for Symphony Pro

Clunky and not intuitive.

Feels clunky and not intuitive. Too many sub menus and difficult to navigate. Feels like a chore to create using the stylus and lacks the efficiency of keyboard inputs/commands so writing is a painstakingly slow process that’s not enjoyable. The program requires a steep learning curve from other software. A regrettable purchase overall.

Extremely unintitive

I had great difficulty getting to needed screens and finding help to run the software. There are much better options out there.

When It works …

For the first week everything was good. Then the bugs started showing up. I emailed support and haven’t heard back. Their forum doesn’t work. This app has such huge potential. But the bugs, for me, have made it mostly unusable. Part of my reason for writing this review is to get their attention. So I can let them know what bugs I’ve found (a lot) and help them to fix them. For now I’m giving it a two star review. I should really give it one star.
