I am learning guitar. Been at it for a little over a year. This app was instrumental in helping me internalize the fretboard. I finally started the ear training sections, and it is super useful. Just showed it to my guitar teacher, and he was surprised such a professional tool existed for beginners. So many options for customizing your lessons too.
Everything a student needs!
One time I was driving back from Florida with my girlfriend who knows nothing about music theory and in the 18 hour car ride, I taught her everything she needs to know through this app
I have been learning piano but am still struggling to read music efficiently. This app has been perfect for testing myself because it provides instant and accurate feedback. My only wish is that there was an option to recognize chords by their names (Ex: A7 or G minor).
I’m a piano teacher and I use it all the time with my students. I don’t understand some of the negative comments. For the price, I find it a very dynamic and thorough tool for testing yourself and others. It Does have timers. I don’t understand when some say it doesn’t. It has a challenge mode. For beginners, you can set parameters on how difficult you make each challenge. I highly recommend it as a tool for learning music and testing your knowledge.
I use this program every day to work on note and chord reading, and ear training for notes, intervals, and chords. It is very flexible. Sometimes the user has to think through the setup of an exercise to match the goal of the user, but this is what you would expect for an app this flexible. I recommend this app to all my friends. Thanks Tenuto!
I use it all the time. So great. Thanks for adding the latest note customization feature. I use this app to improve sight reading of chords and ear training of chords and it helps a ton.
This app is the best for any musician!! Highly recommended and worth the price, you definitely get your moneys worth
It would be very helpful to have the option to enable a pop-up of the correct note letter if a note is guessed incorrectly (e.g. when guessing a note on the guitar fretboard with multiple guesses disabled).
A classic little app that just helps a lot. I’ve seen great results after using the app with note identification to get better, and my reaction time increased a little bit too! It’s great.
This is a fantastic app, the way iOS apps used to be. Pay once, get amazing features with no ads. I’ve been using this to memorize the notes on a bass fretboard and it has everything I want. It’s highly configurable, I’ve started looking ahead to learning scales, arpeggios, and intervals and it’s perfect. I wish more apps worked like this.
Great if u want to work on theory. Many adjustments can be made in the settings so you can focus on exactly what u need to work on.
It is a must for music majors. I have an A in music theory thanks to this app.
I got this app because the online version had so many features, I thought the app would have more than I could imagine. It was very close, I would like it to have a rhythm transcriber with a metronome in the calculator section. Other than that, it’s a great app, worthy of every star.
I’m using this in my first year of college as a musician and this is a fantastic tool to help you study in your free time
I was told is a free app, but it turns out to charge
It’s the perfect way to reinforce what I’m learning while I’m away from the keyboard. I went from functionally illiterate to having a fluid ability to read within a couple weeks. I’m getting key signatures down, and reinforcing my understanding of modes along the way! But MOST importantly, this app didn’t spam me for a review ONCE!
Very easy to use and convenient. I used it to get my theory skills up to par before I came to music school. Highly recommended!
Tenuto is fun, challenging and the best tool for learning sheet music. I use it multiple times a day to quiz myself and it really works.
i use this thing every single day, they should add something for learning guitar tabs
This app is amazing for so many applications! I love it as a memorization tool for sight reading fretboard and sheet music notes. By gamifying the practice sessions, you can master these areas, which are tough to practice as effectively via any other means.
It has everything you need! So much customization allows you do hit your weeks spots. The only features I would add is maybe some sort of way for the app to suggest areas where you are weak. Maybe a guided path to master some things like intervals. And maybe some explanations.
I love this robust, straightforward app -- it's a fantastic way to learn even if you only put in a few minutes a day. When I've got a little free time, instead of popping over to my favorite news sites to see how the world is falling apart, I open up Tenuto and learn some music stuff. Great app all around!
So helpful! Jesus loves you!
Great for anyone studying music
Every musician should have this app under their belt. You can’t beat the knowledge and the skills you get with consistently using this app. Do it for like 5 minutes instead of checking social media, and you’ll thank yourself that you did.
So much better to quiz yourself on music theory than to watch endless / pointless videos or read ambiguously phrased textbooks.
Great app! It has everything I wanted to study theory and help train my ear and all the exercises are very customizable. 10/10.
Very nice app. You can’t train anything past 7th chords though, would like to practice hearing flat 9s or sharp 5s etc.
pretty good but i wish it had an option to ear train different chord progressions or intervals between chords like I-IV-V etc.
Tenuto is a great app. It’s my on call ear trainer.
Tenuto is my daily go-to for general ear training and fretboard identification exercises (learning bass guitar).
Wish this was around when I was in my beginning music journey. Very complete. Get this today. 🏆
I can’t overstate how great this app is. It has changed my musical education. And it even has a sense of humor! See if you can find “the accidentals of doom!”
A full spectrum of excellent learning tools.
I use this app all the time and I love it. What I would like to see added is a fretboard note feature where the actual staff note must be identified on the fretboard.
This app helps you learn everything you need to play your instrument and understand music theory. My piano teacher recommended it and she’s the best, but if I had to go without one of them for a while, I’d keep this first!
If you have any aspirations to become better in music, you will find something useful here. Even if you don't care to learn music theory, the ear training section alone is worth $4.
This is VERY useful for music students. There is one thing I wish they would add: exercises related to note duration and rhythm. Otherwise, it’s pretty comprehensive and easy to use.
I use this daily and it is by far the best learning tool I have for both piano and guitar.

doesn’t work correctly with my bluetooth headphones. super basic, and far fewer features than macGamut, which came out over 30 years ago
