V1 Companion App Reviews

I can’t say enough good things about this app. The developer listens to feedback on forums and is constantly working to make it the best iOS app available for radar detector enthusiasts. I never have to worry about BSM or false alerts and can just focus on driving and paying attention to my V1G2 when there’s an actual police threat. I wish they had it for Android!

App works great, however wish it supported landscape as this is how my phone best fits in my car or supported CarPlay, the latter I'd prefer ;)

1. I truly believe that this application should be a mandated install on purchase of the V1 Gen2. In my local area, this is a game changer! 2. I feel that there should be an export function for the log file. I’d like to parse that for frequencies to modify my custom frequency profile.

Whenever you get an alert the front of my V1g2 lights up.

A great app that adds a ton of functionality to the V1 Gen 2. The logging and real time data are fantastic. The ONLY thing it needs is porting to car play so my phone can sit tucked out of the way. Any way we can get this added?

this is as scrappy as it gets folks. i’m gonna give this app as much of a chance as I can, but man, developers need to hire somebody who knows how to design a user interface. It is horrendous. sorry to be blunt, but it has to be said.

Newest version has unreadable options for photo radar on the iPhone pro max. Also a CarPlay app or widget would be much appreciated! Great work keep it up.

Works great. Wish there were more features but for what it is def awesome

I have been using V1 Companion for a few weeks now and I think it’s great! What could make it greater though? The only thing that I would suggest is possibly making it CarPlay compatible so that my phone doesn’t have to be on the whole entire time. But great job!

The app tend to disconnect from V1 for t unknown reason. We need a fix

Ditto to all of the latest raves about this app. I've had it for less than a week and truly love it. Two concerns that I have: 1. The vehicle speed is randomly off by posting 3-5 mph faster than my odometer speed. The same happens on both of my vehicles. Is there a way to calibrate to correct? 2. Is there a setting so that my car audio is not lowered when I receive a radar alert? I'm using a iPhone 14 pro max for the app. Thank You!

Mostly this is a good iOS app for the v1Gen2. Biggest failings are 1. voice announcements are inaudible at highest volume settings. I can only hear voice announcements if the car is stopped. 2. If I can hear the voice announcements, the spoken frequency has significant figures out to 3 decimal places with no easy way to change. Ie. 34.700 hz instead of a simpler 34.7 hz Both these issues are so annoying I choose a competitive app instead most days.

I love that this app enables me to customize nearly all the settings on my V1G2 radar, but it has one major flaw. Though I understand its purpose, I wish it gave the option to turn off the “V1Gen2 connected” or “disconnected” announcements. The app sometimes glitches and will make “disconnected” and “connected” announcements multiple times during a drive, even when the app’s connection to the radar is uninterrupted. I finally “upgraded’ to a Gen2 V1. Combining the functionality of this app, especially the GPS Spot Locks, frequency reports, trip summaries, and MANY other cool additions make this a must have for any iOS using Valentine Gen2 user. I had a couple questions that were almost immediately answered by the app team. Most of the time asking questions about an app is a trip to the black hole of never, not so with V1 Companion! I am very happy with this app and the support, thanks Cracked Pixel and team

This is an excellent sidekick to the v1, but I am longing for CarPlay compatibility. By the way, thank you to the developer(s) for putting so many useful features in this app!

If it could be used in landscape mode it would be perfect for me... I do use it more than any of the other apps out there. But really want landscape support since my pro max phone gets in the way of other things to see on dash while in portrait orientation. That’s it. Nothing else to dislike it is by far the most quiet v1 ride to work and around town. Great work on last version update. It’s a KA warning system and has since eliminated 99.9 of all other false. bSM and ghost is excellent. And spot

This is overall one of the best apps I have on my phone. It works flawlessly, works as advertised, and makes (IMO) the best radar detector on the market even better. The screens and graphics could use a little cleaning up to make them more legible and less cluttered, and an explanation of some of the symbols that appear on the screen would be ideal, but this is a small price to pay for the functionality offered in this package. Absolutely, totally, and inarguably, worth every penny of the asking

Works nice! My hope is that it will eventually include crowd sourced alerts, speed cameras, and aircraft.

A really sensitive detector can be so annoying it’s useless. I get very few false hits and yet it warns me when there really is a problem. Not “perfect” but very useful. It’s the best by far and keeps getting better!

Ditto to all the other raving reviews, the only thing its missing is its not compatible with apple car play. That would take this app to the next level

This really quiets your ride. All the reasons why I wanted to get the R8 are now addressed with this app. Overall I think the V1Gen2 is better than anything out there, but its lack of GPS is extremely frustrating. I could write so much more about this app, but this app really is everything the V1Gen2 should be out of the box.

Hi there Love the app BUT it keeps disconnecting from BT and sometimes reconnects but appears random. Phone is in my riding pants about 2’ from V1 gen2. Help!!!!! Starting 2k trip Sunday morning.
