VDOT 511 Virginia Traffic App Reviews

Before the app update. And reverting back to the old version I was able to hear through my car radio. What was going on ahead through Bluetooth. Now I cannot hear that for some reason can you please help. Do I need to do something under settings. I cannot find it anywhere

The traffic cameras haven’t been functional for the past few months. The issues are on apple apps. I have no issues on an android app

Been using this for years and continue to love it.

Overall, I like the app. Generally speaking it's not the cleanest or easiest to use interface, but I like that information is available to the public, esp. the cameras. One problem is the travel alerts. They are pointless because an alert to "leave by" that is in less than 10 mins or essentially "right now" does not help at all. It would also be nice if travel routes weren't so dang "glued" to interstates.

I’m glad to see we can revert back to the previous version of the 511 app. The new 511 app is slow, confusing and is difficult to use. I was getting ready to delete the app until I saw the update. Thank you so much.

All previous complaints about the new version were valid, but there is one feature that hasn’t reverted to the original. I have location tracking set for ‘while using app’. The reverted app continues to track even when I’ve gone onto something else. I now have to remove the app from memory to stop the tracking. Please correct this as well.

Thank you for reverting back to the previous iOS version! It is much more user-friendly. I can zoom straight to my area on the map to check cameras without having to do any extra clicks.

Old app back, HOORAY. We use this app for pin pointing MVAs on interstates. Being fire engine driver fast info is priceless for route to take and knowing exact location of incident on interstates. New app was to slow with to many steps. New app had great info just poor design for basic quick use.

I used to love this app & recommend it to everyone I know. I would open the 511 app before any travel. After the update, I may as well delete the app. It’s awful now. Don’t bother downloading unless they return to the previous dashboard version. Original is back & I’m a happy camper. :)

Never Mind. They are back Was a good App. Cameras have been removed so now it serves no purpose.

Great app for viewing Virginia traffic live cams & checking road conditions—free, just like on their website. What’s not to like? :)

What’s up with the fact that the app now repeatedly keeps turning itself on in the background consuming power and data? If this isn’t fixed I will have to uninstall it. This would be unfortunate as access to view the traffic cameras is very handy when weather is bad.

I loved this app before it was updated. Now the app automatically shuts down when you try to open it. I have already deleted the app and reinstalled it and it still does the same thing.

Last 2 days cameras haven’t been working. What is going on? There is no update available either.

The app is very helpful. I’m able to use it to find out when the bridge is open or there is a road closed.

Having issues seeing cameras ,, on west end of state , clicked on in eastern part cameras came on but then went off , none any area will work

I used to be able to get on this app and see travel times between frequent destinations in a hurry. Now you give travel times between mile markers, which means nothing to me. The app is now useless.

Tracking set to ‘while using’. This setting is ignored. You have to clear the app from memory to get it to stop.

In the Hampton roads area there are multiple cameras do not work, video feed won't stream, this app is a waste of taxpayer money

Cameras good but only if you can move around on the map but getting road condition alert info during storm fern all I get is Coleman Bridge under repair. App is good during conditions you don’t need it but under storm conditions worthless except for cameras.

The app was great then they changed it - I liked it the other way!!! Change it back!

Just want traffic cameras as last version

I was able to get into the app about 30 minutes ago with no problem. For some reason, now when I try to see what’s going on with the traffic, it opens for a few seconds and then closes on its own. I removed and reinstalled the app and it’s still crashing... it’s a little frustrating...

I’ve used this app for quite sometime and never had an issue before the last update. Now the app crashes when you try and open it. The only way around is to download the app again or reboot your phone. But you can only open it once if you close it and try and open it again it crashes.

The Message/Twitter no longer works. Getting in touch with someone about this is impossible.
