Very Local: News & Weather App Reviews

Very Local has great stories to tell and those stories are presented so well. This is one app that I’m glad I downloaded because it’s not only entertaining, but is educational as well.

KCCI has scored a TD with the BCK program!

I have been asking for an app like this for a long time and now it exists. I am Very Happy with Very Local.

This app has local news and decent content. But the ads that come on are way too loud! Much much louder than the content. So you have to constantly turn up or down the volume. Take caution if you watch with AirPods.

The first improvement I’d like to see is the ability to create an account that can be used across devices/platforms. This would allow for starting a program on one device, and continuing it on another. The second improvement I’d like to see is the ability to bookmark shows or save them to a favorites list. That way, my favorite shows are easier to find.

I’m new to this and I can’t figure out how to turn it off.

When using an iPhone or iPad, you must stay in the app. You cannot have it running in the background while you check email look at directions or other things similar to what you can do with YouTube TV.

Really great segments to learn about cool things happening around town!

The app is smooth and well running! Works flawlessly to deliver news and updates!

The content on this app is really impressive and entertaining!

Who knew, there are so many great local shows on this app. And it’s free. You don’t have to pay to subscribe or be able to watch all of the shows.

I love that the news is there for when I need to listen to the weather folks chit chat. Even better is that I can watch some shows about my town! So refreshing compared to the typical Hollywood stuff. And it’s looks like real legit shows too!

Queens Of Birmingham!!

Some commercials on broadcast local stations like KCRA 3 in Sacramento, CA are way, way louder than other commercials.

Downloaded to watch a local parade that I could not attend and the app on my phone and my tv crashed many times.

First few times I used the app, ads were at a minimum. A few days later, whoa, more ads than programming.

Tried it out. Every news video clip started with an obtrusive ad. Non starter for me. Deleted the app.

I’ve followed all the instructions in the help section and I cannot get the app to cast to my Samsung TV. This is the only app that won’t cooperate. It’s very frustrating, especially since I wanted to watch a local holiday parade via Very Local with my family, not just on my phone.
