VHS Synth | 80s Synthwave App Reviews

I’ve been using this app for a couple years now and it is amazing. I just learned how to use it in GarageBand. After I updated my iPhone 16 Pro Max to iOS 26 the app will no longer work in GarageBand as an Extension. Here is the error message that I get every time I try to load it as an extension. “Audio Unit Extension Quit: The Audio Unit Extension has quit unexpectedly. Tap Reload to reload the extension, or tap Disable to disable the extension and continue.” I would love to continue using

Bummer how they chose this absurd subscription model, immediate hate from the community and absolute silence from the developer. I love the presets in this and VHS, they are really really good and there's a preset artist featured (Mark Hupkins) who is an absolute mastermind and doesn't appear in any of the other audiokit apps to my knowledge. I love the lo-fi vibes. This is one of my favorites. So far I’ve just been having fun tweaking the presets, there are some good ones. I’m sure I’ll get some great results once I initialize a patch and see what I can come up with. Seems like a very capable little synth with great vibes.

Is there anyway to make this available to route directly to iaa output to FL studio Mobile like you can with Synth One? That one connects perfectly but this one doesn’t show up on my Audiobus list :(

Digitalism 2000 has velocity settings, why not this one? Ive been waiting patiently for velocity setting since the app came out. This thing is not fun to play when you have to smash a key to get sound going.

This is a whole Brave New World for a subtraction synthesis! Developer stays with reported issues till fixed. Now I can save Presets and am having a ‘sonic’ of a good time now!

I have to press so hard on my midi keyboard just to get sound out of this! Please add the velocity curve like in Digitalism!

Without assigned modulation (try using your mod wheel on any patch) nor an LFO this synth has more movement than others that have two! Also, you’ll love the dream team of sound designers who contributed excellent patches which show off the power behind the simple design. Just buy it!

I was going through the presets and favoriting (starring) the ones I liked a lot and realized I was choosing almost all of them! Wow! So many great sounds! Typical of the apps from this group. I pretty much just buy whatever they put out since they are all varying degrees of excellent!

I almost wanna give it a bad rating and review just so nobody else will find it. But I can’t do that. That would be like hiding the Bible. This app is that good. For the money, it’s as good if not better than the VERY BEST synth apps on App Store. Un-be-lievable!!!

Can’t really get it Toruń with Riffer stand alone but in an iPad daw it works

Clean, intuitive interface - typical of Audiokit. Plus the sounds are great. Also fun and quick to layer and edit.

This is truly a treasure trove of very usable sounds and samples! Grab it now while you can. I’m still going through the many many sounds, but keep getting sidetracked and inspired. Thanks for all the hard work and collaboration.

This was one of my most used apps. Some of the absolute best patches in the App Store. Nearly every project I worked on had an instance of this app. Since these new developers took over for AudioKit this synth doesn’t open in any of my projects. Whether it be GarageBand, Logic, or Cubasis. No amount of updates or deleting and reinstalling has helped. It’s such a disappointment and headache.
