Windfinder: Wind & Weather map App Reviews

Windfinder is most accurate of numerous weather/ wind sites however, it would be very helpful for more updates in terms of current wind conditions.

I run a fishing charter in Lake Erie, which is one of the least understood and unpredictable bodies of water, regarding waves. This app gives me the ability to accurately predict conditions for my charter trips, and potentially prevent unsatisfactory experiences for my clients.

I rely on Windfinder, but disappointed at times with the accuracy of the forecast in wind speeds and direction forecast.

I really like the information this app provides. For the most part it gives me an idea of the conditions so I can enjoy a comfortable day fishing on the water.

I use Windfinder all the time from flounder gigging trips to planning offshore fishing trips. The app is very useful and accurate.

The weather is always the determining factor when sailing. I solo sail often, so wind conditions and gusts are important to me. Wind finder gives me an accurate idea of conditions at Biscayne bay.

I am surprised at some of the locations that I found current and forecast weather I live in Kodiak Alaska in ugak Bay And by golly you have the wind all the way to salty cove Awesome I can pretty accurately scheduled my trip with my small 24’ boat to pasagshak given I have been here on and off since 1989 and I know better to go look at it in person

Great app for local boating conditions. The hourly forecast is a great help in refining the NWS forecast.

I found this app during the time hurricane Irma was being forecast to cause ‘catastrophic damage’. It put my mind at ease from the exaggerated newscasts.

This app and the associated site-specific forecasts has really allowed me to better plan boat trips, avoiding pending high winds and anticipating wind direction.

I have the Windfinder in my Samsung and Apple. I like the Birdseye view and wind chart on the Samsung — but cannot find it or it is not present on the Apple.

Thus far, my bible of when to blow off work and go flying! Very, but not 100% accurate in all forecasts, but after you get into the rhythm of the forecast as compared to your 1st hand observations, it's easy to interpret the data and proceed accordingly.

Pretty easy to use once you figure it out. I found this while my husband and I were team trucking. It is by far the most accurate!!! So many weather apps ignore wind speed or are grossly underestimated. This app might have saved our lives helping us to decide to shut down and wait. Thank you!

I use it on fresh and saltwater bodies. Most accurate hour to hour wind reports and the on the water body directional bars are super helpful. Often the wind curves over water and your generic forecasts do not take it into account I swear by it

Great app , most anglers use this everyday

Here in Marathon Florida we have extreme weather changes. Manicsportfishing runs 400 plus trips a year. This is the only app that is consistent for us. Highly recommend!

Great app. So easy to keep 6 or 8 places on a list that shows wind and general weather and accurate TIDES. Pre accurate too.

Include updates more than every 12 hours

This app is constantly right on the money with every forecast! Planning trips offshore is no longer a guess with when the morning or evening will turn into rough seas. Must have app 🙌🏾

I use Windfinder on Lake Erie in Ohio. The app is fabulous in predicting waves and wind. Also used It in Top Sail Island for tide and wave info for fishing the ocean. I will have this app forever.

Better than the Marine Forecast which is too general. Windfinder is spot specific and more accurate!

Best app I have found for boaters. No more switching between apps or websites. Very pleased. Haven’t bought the membership but 10 bucks a year is definitely worth it!
