Thank you for the update, seems to have fixed my issue. Been using this for years and back at it.
After updating to version 2.1.2, when my system is in dark mode, the extension blacks out the YouTube tab that is currently playing. This happens even though I have it set to 'Disabled for the current website,' and my other YouTube tabs work fine.
This is working well again for me with the recent update, no more white flashing that I’ve noticed yet when loading sites.
Game changer for the brightness of certain websites like CNBC or ESPN. Dark mode on always
The latest update freezes certain websites, specifically the Google webistes. Please fix soon. Thank you! :)
I have been a long time user of this app and I have found it essential for late night reading/browsing before bed or when I have insomnia. Even on the lowest iPhone brightness settings, websites with white or light backgrounds can be completely unbearable. It would be a sad day if web standards change enough to not make this app work anymore.
This is a game-changer for people who prefer Dark Mode!!!
An ability to toggle or disable Dark Reader for PDFs on iOS would be awesome.
Cannot set time for dark and normal mode
Bring back the old monochrome toolbar icon
Works perfectly! Beautifully designed for iOS Safari. Happy to support development by purchasing on the App Store.
Whenever I use Amazon, for example, there is always a flash or white page before it turns black. It burns my eyes. I have to close my eyes and use keyboard commands to switch between all tabs and gives them a good 5 seconds to turn from white to black. This is unacceptable.
I use Dark Reader on Chrome on desktop and it works extremely well and I rarely have any issues with website formatting. That’s not the case for the iOS version, and very often I'm stuck with a white background and white text on a website, making it completely unreadable. This puts sudden strain on my eyes at night time, and it’s not something which I can look past. The main function of this app is semi broken.
I noticed that the desktop extension recently got theme presets including Dracula. iOS/Safari already has presets but none of them are Dracula. In addition, specifying a custom theme is inadequate because there is no place to enter a hex for the color. Can a hex input field be added?
I have relied on this as my dark reader plugin for Safari for a while now, and it works great! It has just enough configurability for me to tune it to work nicely on virtually every website I visit, and for many websites I don't have to tune it at all. It just works.
I'm visually-impaired, and can no longer read "normal" black text on a white background. With this extension I can read most web pages without having to invert my screen or use a screen reader. I'm so used to it that I'm always surprised when I use a browser without it installed. My complements to the developers; having this available across browsers (and especially iOS) is tremendously helpful.
For most basic sites, this works. I find issues with sites having more complex, centent. Sometimes form fields and boarders cannot be seen. Also, I do a lot of editing on wordpress and need a reiliable dark mode extensions for multiple browsers. this one gets weird with Safari, and sometimes won't let me load my wordpress site. Works fine with other browsers though
I haveen't tried other dark mode plugins for Safari so I can't provide much comparison, but I have used Dark Reader on Gecko and Chromium browsers and the Safari version feels years behind. Most urgent improvements would include adding support for local .html files, determining why some websites simply aren't affected by the extension, and a variety of minor bug fixes leading to some websites appearing mottled light and dark.
Immediate eye relief. Glad I didn't have to write something, or keep writing hack scripts for sites.
The facebook website shows a white bar on top when dark readers active. I can submit a video to show it.
I’ve tried all the apps different browsers and finally found this one that properly does the dark mode. And to be able to set my color how I want omgggg so good. Hyperweb caused too many bugs same with noir.
I love this app however, there is one website that is not going into Dark Mode that is the Chicago Sun Times. Could you guys check it out and see if you can have an update so the site is in dark mode?
Was working great for a while, but the past month or so it has been failing on Gmail, making it almost unusable there, which is too bad because it's the one tab I have open the most.
There are some issues with some websites such as pubmed and other websites which contains a section to fill some information using keyboard. These issues are more prominent in macOS.
I have a vision problem, but I love to read. This is amazing app!
I use Dark Reader at work on Chrome. Thrilled to have it for Safari on my mobile devices. Such a wonderful tool! Sincere thank you to the devs.
Unlike the chrome version, Dark Reader on Safari doesn't provide any options to manage the site list. You cannot manually add URLs to the whitelist or import/export/sync your configs across multiple devices.
Doesn’t work with Firefox yet. Bummer.
Love it here too. Same great extension. 😘
This was the fastest $5 has ever left my wallet! I have been using your browser extension for years! (Firefox FTW) Finally, I can get the same quality on my phone! Thank you. So much. :)
It works in safari! It looks so good and has so many options available… amazing, I love it ❤️
I keep getting this pop up saying it interferes with the security feature. I am using m1 mac mini. Thanks
Although the developer states that the app can read sensitive data, you can monitor and deny any 'funky' looking connections using Lil Snitch. ;-)
Tried using one of the freebie extensions, but didn't really work well. This does the job as well as can be asked, and maybe better.
The best dark mode extension. It's not even close.
Works great but I wish there was a chrome version for iOS devices
The price was well worth it. It really helps with my eye when I have to spend hours on my devise. Thank you for this app!
Apple is not cool for making me pay to keep my eyes comfortable.
when clicking the extnesion, settings doesnt pop up. all other extensions work fine beside this one. hope it can be fixed.
Working great but some sites already got dark mode and with this on it messed things up, can you add a way to detect if the website already have dark mode on and Dark Reader gets turned off when it do?
I’ve been the windows version for a while now and recently gotten this extension. It does the one thing I want, turn websites into dark mode. Especially with a true black option
Everything else is perfect, but I would love to designate specific themes for specific websites, instead of constantly switching back and forth for frequently used sites.
This is the best dark mode extension I’ve used so far. Although, I wish images and videos were dimmed so they’re not brighter than the rest of the page.
2 Negative User Reviews for Dark Reader for Safari
It’s super laggy on Google Sheets, on chrome it’s not but on safari it is, please fix
Extension has been good to me for a long time but it’s been getting more and more buggy so it was time to switch. Esp since the updates haven’t been as timely as I’d like to squash those bugs. Won’t advertise what I switched to (sorry for anyone out there wondering), but look up safari dark mode and you’ll find plenty of good options. I will say I paid a few bucks for the new one I picked, and it’s been worth it.
