45 Positive User Reviews for Day One Journal: Private Diary
I’ve been using this journal for a couple of years and overall it’s ok. It gets the job done. But as I evaluate the cost per year, I’m taking a second look at other options. There are 3 features that I would love to see: highlights in other colors and not that dreadful gold, text in different colors and the ability to archive of journals. As I’m searching for other journals I found this one to be a bit outdated compared to newer options. Unless they add new valuable features that I need , I p
It makes journaling easy. Categorizes everything so you can recall memories quickly and efficiently. Love the talk to text feature. Love the mapping and attaching photos/vids. Just a blessing for the generations to come.
100% recommend Day One! This app is what finally got me into consistently journaling, I can now officially say after a 513 day streak now 🔥 The UI is so nice, the customization, ability to create your own templates, and calendar view with a picture a day is soo satisfying to see. The customer service is also amazing. I definitely recommend the premium version, so you can use on numerous devices and add multiple photos per entry. I never review apps, but had to review this one. Definitely downlo
I am now hooked. I journal daily because it’s so easy. I even have multiple journals for different purposes with self-curated templates. At the end of the year, I get a printed book and now have a fun collection of entries with photos for each year to look back on.
If cross-platform matters to you, DailyBean, Journey, or Daylio all work smoothly on both iOS and Android. Day One's iPhone app is honestly one of the best-looking journal apps out there. But the Android version feels like a different app — missing features, occasional crashes. My partner uses Android and we wanted the same experience. For $50/year, I expected platform parity. Still the best longform journal on iOS though.
目前为止很喜欢 希望不要因为图片多而被收费或者限制
I started using this app irregularly but now use it every day for my Artist’s Way morning pages. I maintain a journal, a private concealed journal and several other sections as I have been working on a memoir. Each entry is time stamped with time, date, location, temperature and more.
This app has helped me reshape my life. Day One has amazing features that make journaling something I look forward to every day, rather than feeling like a chore.
Best journal out there. Give it a shot.
I’ve been a day one user for three years and it’s still the best app for the job. I love how easily it sinks across my devices. Your journal can be as complex or simple as you want.
The latest update with the shared journal feature is fantastic! However, I've noticed a limitation that affects its usability for me. While I appreciate the ability for friends to comment on my journal entries, it would be immensely helpful if they could also co-edit them. Currently, they're only able to comment, leaving us to work on the journal separately rather than collaboratively. Adding the option for friends to edit entries would greatly enhance our ability to work on the journal together
This app is very straight forward and easy to use. I have a 4 day streak going that I want to keep increasing. There is a premium version available, but it is 34.99 per year. I don’t really need the premium features, but it would be nice to have. Overall this is an app that I use multiple times per day. It is easy to open and quickly jot down your thoughts.
Day one is my favorite app. I love writing journal entries with it. I think the free version of Day One should let user sync their journal entries across all of their devices. Instead of including it in the premium version. All in all, I recommend this app because it is fully accessible with the voiceover screenreader. Giving Day One five stars.
Love this app, but landscape mode seems to have broken recently.
I have filled many notebooks with journal entries. Then I began a traveling lifestyle where I only carry the necessities with me. Yet I wanted access to all my journaling! Them a fellow nomad introduced me to Day One. I have been using it ever since! When I am back with my old stack of journals I can scan in past entries and add them to my archive! I also love the photos options. This has allowed me to save special photos for later review and reduce my posting on social media where I used to put
It was a huge disappointment to lose years of stories.. but God new that my best work was going to come, and opened me up to this wonderful app.. it has its own cloud, I will never lose my info again. SUGGESTION Still using this years later.. still love it.. my only suggestion is to make title column that can always print out and be bold, may be add one up top for each entry… and show them all in previews
My issues are with writing using an Apple Pencil. Hand rejection feels like it doesn’t exist because my keyboard is always popping up just because I need to adjust my hand as I am writing. My other complaint is that you cannot just handwrite your entries, they must be write to text or typed. The only way to handwrite is with the drawing feature, which never makes sense. Other than that, this app is wonderful. It keeps me journaling every day like I need to, and the daily prompts help a lot. No
I’ve been using this daily for almost three years now. The most recent update is making the left hand side list flicker when I type, which is maddening. Also, I’m not quite sure how or why, but spell checking suggestions have been really spotty and so has typing. I don’t seem to have the same issues when texting or writing emails, but unfortunately I don’t have good examples. It just seems like it’s a bit harder to use recently.
Day one has allowed me to journal the way I capture my life. Through photos and locations. Sometimes I add words but mostly pictures and then the beauty comes when it sends me reminders of events in the past. THe way I feel a good journal should work.
I’ve been using this app since high school when I paid for it the first time. I’ve used it on and off but the features only get better and better. A great way to document your thoughts, moods, feelings and more on the go. Also it’s very funny to look back on.
I’m trying not to be down on the fact I could have had this app sooner. The way I utilize it greatly increases my productivity and reduces stress. This app will be GOD TIER if they integrate an AI chatbot feature.
I like that I can partition my journaling into separate journals. I love that it syncs between my devices. It’s really easy to use on my phone.
Great way to keep track of your medical history and personal and business obligations.
I hate to take off 1 star because I really enjoy the app. Its simplicity is great, and it does what you need it to do. It’s helping me focus my thoughts and manage my emotions. But lately the keyboard disappears and the only way I can get it back is to close and restart the app. Update: I’m writing this morning, and already had to close the app and reopen several times because the keyboard keeps disappearing. This only happens with DayOne.
I have used Day One since about 2020 now and it is so affordable and amazing when it comes to organizing and creating different journals and being able to attach a variety of different files, as well as tracking weather and location and all of it. I overall love the look of it and it gives off a nice vibe when I journal whether it be venting, reflecting, planning, etc. I will forever stand by this app. 100/10 recommend:)
I love this app. It’s especially nice with Pro because I can stay synced across all my devices!!
Even free this journal does as expected. Highly recommend.
Using Day One significantly bettered my life. It is a great App to journal, to set to do lists, to organize life. It helped me with managing my ADHD. Absolutely live the daily prompt question. Also great customer service. If you ever thought about getting into daily journaling, this is a best app to do so in my appointment.
I’ Ve been writing a journal for almost 10 years now and with this app it was so easy… now looking back is very interesting
worth every cent! awesome app
I am 42 and have been keeping diaries since I was 8, and I love this journal app! I love that I can jot down anything at anytime. I love the feature “On this day” where you can read what happened years ago. I just learned you can also add photos which is really fun! Day One has helped me in even more ways than writing in a journal did. The good, the bad, the fun The memories are written as they used to be, but I have so many more of them because of this app!
This app makes journaling so fun and easy! It is easy to use. It’s so easy to add pictures. The layout is appealing. I have lots of different journals for different purposes. I love that I can use it across my different devices (phone, iPad and computer). The journal prompts are helpful. I haven’t done it yet, but I’m SO excited to be able print off my family journals into a book. It is probably one of my very favorite apps ever!!
Such an easy way to write my thoughts, and ideas……and if i decide to share a part of it, easy to just copy and paste to an email.
I use DayOne daily. Easy to use, fast, clean. Syncs between phone and computer (sometimes I journal on the go, sometimes in my office). Helped me get in the habit of daily journaling because it’s so easy and enjoyable to use. Highly recommend!
Great to use to journal and note down pictures and memories
It so calming and helpful for me to get my feelings out and I just really love it, I write in it everyday
Helps time stamp and make documentation easier
One Note allows me to integrated much of my life into one place (notes, photos, and other possibilities. I find it easier than using a nice, handmade journal with all of the pretty drawings and boxes.
This app changed my life. Since from day one, my school life is way easier to handle!
I’ve been using this app to try micro journaling (writing a quick a diary entry instead of scrolling on another app on my phone) and actually have stuck to the habit of journaling! I love how simple it is ❤️
Please fix the location when I upload the photos
I never thought about journaling and began the day I retired. This app reminds me of how far I’ve come and where I’ve been. The only reason I don’t give 5 stars, is the cost.
I love this app and use it everyday! The only disappointment is when I want to export my journal as a pdf to print, I don’t like that I can’t choose the formatting beyond font type. The dates above each entry are smaller in font size than my main entry. I want the dates large. Also I wish I could choose how to format the pictures included in my entry. Sometimes they are too large and go to a separate page. I wish there was more customization for printing purposes.
Love this app! The only thing that would make it better would be the ability to collaborate on a journal with someone else.
Having subscribed to Day One for three years now, this has made journaling one of my favorite pastimes. really love how easy it is to journal. It doesn’t ask you to write paragraphs worth of stuff for each entry; just a photo and a title will do. It’s like a private “social” network. I can’t recommend this app enough.
