Fast text editor with syntax highlighting and plenty of themes. But limited fonts and no way to add my own. Really clunky, challenging file manager that looks ported over from a Palm Pilot. Navigation is a total pain. Font sizes are also off, 14 point in this app is rather small on my screen where other apps display 14 pt larger on the screen. It’s a good start, and glad I got it on sale, I hope it gets better, but for now I’ll keep looking for my ideal text editor.
Let’s me quickly edit files directly on remote drive, manually save them or exit them without saving if I want (other editors that I’ve tried, except GTW also by this dev, aren’t easy to manually save and all seem to auto save on exit with no option to disable). Thanks for fixing the problem with Google Drive.
I’m loving the ssh shell with linux. I can install Gimp and Discord from the bathtub. I just leave my iPhone in a plastic baggy and ssh into my computer and start installing. They also include language support for virtually every single language. Except Basic. Like what the heck! It’d be nice if basic made it on.
Easy the best code editor for iOS. The sidebar design and easy access to files/folders puts it above all others.
Needed something to quickly edit some files on my home server from my iPad. Took a chance on this app, and did not regret it. It’s simple, useful (brings me right to my last connection upon launch), and beautiful. Thank you.
My teams workflow, we do everything on the server… I know, I know, git commit push pull… Not in a wordpress shop. This is fantastic for loading up all of your SFTP client server accounts for easy access and simple editing of their style.css or functions.php. The addition of our standard color themes for the IDE is nice to make it universal feel to set your VSCode or Nova/Panic IDE similarly. I’m so excited about this I’m probably not even making sense. This is it. I’ve purchased all of the expe
This is so useful. Stop working with Google Drive recently though. Is there someway around this?
Really useful to have on the iPad Pro for a lightweight workspace to tweak embedded systems via SSH. The only major complaint I have is that it seems to insist on Internet access before it will allow a remote connection. I often use an Ethernet dongle to connect with embedded systems on private networks, so if I’m working in an environment where I can’t also connect to the Internet via WiFi, GoCoEdit becomes useless for no technical reason. Please consider fixing.
Good dark mode. One of the few apps that work over ssh. I wish there was a way to hide tab bar and everything above it, like the developer’s other app gtw does. Fonts are good, but options are limited, only fixed width fonts.
After some initial interface confusion, the author quite patiently demonstrated the where things like "Open in" are invoked. This app treats local and remote files distinctly and remote file need to be moved.
Just great editor for the iPad with lots of features. Definitely recommend.
I tried using python and when I pressed preview, it showed the code rather then the print statement. I'll increase it to 5 once I can do this.
This app is outstanding. It is the most efficient remote development app for iOS. Big thanks to the developer; you rock.
I use Sublime Text on my Mac, and this is the best editor I have found to allow me to edit files locally or on the server, with an interface very close to Sublime. Thanks for creating it!
Best text editor for iPad use. I can finally continue my work on my iPad and I’m ecstatic about that. The developer is awesome as well and will respond to your emails. Keep up the awesome work, Christoph!
Worth it 100%. I love the fact that I can connect via sftp and edit my files. This is the most useful app on my iPhone. Then on top of that it has a nice theme to it, different colored text for variables, attributes, etc. Very impressed!
This app has an excellent ssh client built in. Connected with my Pi Zero W and received shell commands from my phone and watch! Ran shutdown commands and executed python scripts as well.
This is easily the best editor out there for iOS. The only thing that comes close (and not by far) is Coda. This is miles ahead. Great job, Christopher!
Author is responsive LOTS of options This is ideal for text files where you want fixed-width font editing (example Line 2, 37th character is exactly below line 1 char 37 My favorite visual theme is Ruby Blue
It would be perfect then, and the only one in the AppStore in Spanish. I can translate, just tell me! I’ll do it for free. Please consider it, I want the app to be translated.
This app is amazing and I just love it but I would like one thing to be added: an auto error checker at least for the Java code. Other then that I love this app! Totally recommend it!
Great app for development on the go!
I was thinking it supported mysqli, database but It isn’t available on this app
The only real downside that I can say about this app so far is the lack of a connection to bitbucket or github. Having a built in git client could be a huge boost that would put this app over all others!
Clean, productive syntax color editor.
Finally I found this app that gives an easy way to view and edit plaintext files with varying file extensions in Dropbox. The editor itself looks great with the syntax highlighting. It is quite easy to set up and navigate as well.
I use this split screen with Termius for a sweet remote editor/console solution (with iCloud updating the documents on my computer). Would LOVE syntax hi-lighting within a markdown code block: ```py example = 0 While True blabla = 0 ```
This is the most intuitive and easy to use editor. Some features would make it excellent: - Emmet - ssh_config - Github Excited to see where this app goes
They’ve done an incredible job turning a phone into a tool that is actually capable of developing code on. Only wish I have for it is a setting for carriage return/newline control.
Feature-rich, reliable product. The snippets extension is excellent. Quick and responsive support.
This is a clean and flexible app. I use it to write LaTeX and other plain-text documents. Very pleased!
So far so good, but it’s no vscode or Atom! Most frustrating is that both an email and post to the support repository went unanswered. Also, what’s up with those tiny updates that bump the version number, but keep listing same exact fixes.?!
This app is amazing! Very well coded, it’s extensible yet light weight with just the right amount of features! Great UI, and works well with dropbox so I can see, analyze, or edit my projects on the go!
I like being able to edit my C++ code from the app, but I am unable to compile it. Can you guys add this feature?
I love the app, I think it works well with my workflow. However, I have an issue where every time I press “enter” to go to the next line, there is additional space created that prevents my code from running later on (Python).
1 Negative User Reviews for GoCoEdit
When I connect to Dropbox, not all the text files in my directories are listed, so I can't edit them with this editor. I've contacted the developer, but this defect remains. I re-downloaded the app because it claims an updated Dropbox interface this revision, but there's been no change. Two stars because I really like the editor for the files I *can* access, but until I can access *all* files in a Dropbox directory, it's useless.
