I really enjoy this game!
I opened Monster Train this morning to check how well it ran on my phone, and when I looked up, an hour had gone by. This game is a blast, and it plays surprisingly well on a phone (although I wish the attack and health totals were larger.) If you got past Ascension 1 on Slay the Spire, play this next.
Epic port epic game, if you like rogue likes monster train is in my op a must play. It has lot of depth and if you get the dlc it has even more, though i do think its also a bit easier with the dlc because you can make monsters who are essentially roided up bath salt gobbling machines, so maybe don’t get it until you play a bit so you can get the full difficulty experience. Its not a huge difference but its something i noticed when going from my pc which has the dlc to my phone which doesn’t.
I have issues with the screen being unresponsive on my iPad. Just another unforgiving rogue game. Slay the spire is far superior
It took a little time for me to grasp the functions in the game, but once I did, I really started to enjoy it! For me, I need there to be a variety of different outcomes depending on my choices for a game like this to be fun. I love how this game can give you a different experience each time. I was worried that I would buy it and then not like it. I’m so glad I got it! I play A LOT of games and I never write reviews unless a game is special.
If you like Slay the Spire or any roguelike deck builders, this is an excellent buy. Plays great on iPhone, iPad, and Silicon Macs.
A great deck builder; highly recommend if you enjoy slay the spire, Monster Train might beat it out for me personally by juuuust a smidge :)
This is by far one of my top 5 card games. Since I played slay the spire first i have not found many card games as appealing but this is definitely really good and i hope to see the 2nd game in the App Store too as I have the game and monster train 2 both on steam making this game playable on all devices that I own.
If you like slay the spire this is similar but definitely more approachable. Plus you can finish a run in 30 min or less which is nice. I think it’s worth it.
I first played this game on XBox Game Pass and loved it. Then got it on my phone to play on the go. Its versatile play style across different classes has lots of fun to try out. The learning curve is good, start easy and gradually increase difficulty. You can also choose the right difficulty to test new builds and practice. Overall, a solid $8 game. Recommend.
Can’t wait for the sequel to come to mobile. Endlessly addictive.
If you are a fan of card games this one is for you. Enough said. Really good game
Absolutely wonderful synergies between clan decks, and I loved how the unlocked heroes change up the meta.
Legit my fav deck builder. Insanely fun and just feels great to play.
Like, I’m saying that this game is essential if you like this genre. It’s right up there with Slay the Spire. As the genre grows and evolves Monster Train will offer essential qualities for successful and replayable roguelikes. How much do I love this game? I bought it 3 times 😅
In my book, one of the best games ever made for any platform. Smooth, polished, and immediately fun - and stays fun for countless hours. You don’t need to a fan of anything specific to enjoy this. Great game.
After playing this on my iPad, I picked up a physical copy for the Switch. Great strategy card building game. If you liked Slay the Spire, you’ll love this.
Fun deck building game, where you try to find the most op mechanic However in order to build that op deck you need to carefully pick your card. After you win a battle you’re presented with three cards to choose from, however you are unable to review your deck. The only way to review the deck is to quit the game and then pick the card you want. This feature is on the original pc, just not on iPad nor phone for some reason
This game is amazing so many ways to defeat your opponent this game needs to be more popular
You can’t check out the map or your deck when you’re drafting cards/units. This is something you can do on PC.
One of my favorite rouge-like/deck-builders. I was super excited to see it come to phone. Great job with putting this one together!! Only thing I wish I could do is look at my deck while selecting rewards.
A classic deck-building combat game, the endless variations between the various factions and card abilities make no two games alike. The difficulty increasing mechanic for the Covenant and the one DLC (Last Divinity) make the game continue to be challenging. Each run takes under an hour, so you don’t have to play for hours on end as you get sucked in … but there’s also nothing stopping you.
Good game and really unique compared to other rogue like card games. Takes around 10-15 hours to see almost all the content.
Love this game, highly recommend to all. However currently if you have to leave the game (like sending a text, or checking an email that came in) and then go back to the game, it pops up saying ‘the game is running on another device’ and takes you to the main menu. I don’t have it running on another device… so it’s annoying to have to go through that every time I switch to another app for 5 seconds. Other than that, the game itself it’s awesome!
Great game mechanics, I’m addicted.
In my view, this is the ultimate deck-builder. The runs are short but not too-short. The synergies are excellent. The lack of micro-transactions is ideal, especially on mobile (although this game is great on Steam as well). My only gripe is I played through all the classes and cards so fast that I’m wishing for more. There is a DLC available that adds a new class, but it doesn’t constantly interrupt you to advertise it. It doesn’t advertise it at all in fact. 10/10. Would give six stars if I
Good name, needs more options to reduce graphics though. Why not allow me to disable pointless animations (such as the train sparks/flame or wiggling units)?
Amazing game. If you like deck building rogue-likes. One of my favorites, fun battles, quick simple but not too easy. Main problem I gotta say, I don’t think there’s much to be done about it tho, is that the screen is pretty small for the game. It can be hard to understand what’s happening if you playing with a lot of units on a single floor. Besides that tho. It’s great!
It’s good, clever design. 5 stars
Hands down one of the best games to tickle the brain, it’s kid friendly, nothing to graphic, and best of all, there’s a track record of progress. Not just endless grinding like many games.
Desperately needs to let us see the map and our deck on drafting screens. Otherwise, incredible experience. Deep gameplay, interesting choices, and polished UI for the handheld experience.
Still holding out hope for more DLC in the future.
This is my 3rd platform buying and beating monster train. One of the best deckbuilders of all times comes to iOS!!!
