9 Positive User Reviews for Navionics Boating

Doesn't Report VMG

Doesn't report Velocity Made Good (VMG) to a waypoint, which is critical for sailboats.

Good but could be better

This should be available in CarPlay. Yes I know it’s a boating app but for us ice fisherman being able to use it in car has huge benefits.

My go to app

I have thousands of dollars of charting information on my boat but this is my go to application. It also works on multiple boats and cruise ships.

If sailing in Croatia don’t buy the Subscription for the Med

Heads up ! In previous subscription Croatia was included in the Mediterranean and Black Sea. We are going sailing in Croatia once again so I simply renewed my subscription only to find out that I have to purchase a different sub/zone to have Croatia. You really have to zoom in to the zone in the sub to see the border of Croatia is not included in the Med and Black Sea. Cost me an extra $50 for a zone I don’t need.

My opinion

Thanks for app , but i think it needs to some tools , such as a circle , square , line and … , and sometimes it not connect to gps Thank you

4 Negative User Reviews for Navionics Boating

Good maps, broken navigation not getting fixed

For GPS tracking to work, you have to hit the bottom left button after every scroll/view change, AND have location services set to “Always”, AND when it occasionally still fails, physically move the phone. I had an exchange with Garmin support over a year ago about this. Also, markers and labels render North-up even when your map view isn’t.

Ruined by Garmin

Navionics suddenly took away the feature of switching between more than two devices. It used to allow switching to a third device if you booted off one of the first two. Now you are stuck with the first two only. If I’m out to sea and my device battery runs down or if my cellphone dies or loses service, my life is in danger.

Next to useless on iOS, works well on Android. Go figure.

I've had a ticket open with tech support for 2 years about this and still no resolution. On every iPhone I've ever had this app on, the speed and heading readings have been wildly and laughably incorrect. It routinely tells me I'm standing still when I'm clearly moving, and sometimes tells me I'm going 40 knots, which is hilarious. The heading indicator spins wildly out of sync with my actual heading. Meanwhile, the Android version of this app works relatively beautifully on my old, janky tab

Does not work in airplane mode anymore

Doesn’t work without internet connection anymore. Which makes it mostly useless. On iPhone 11 and on iPad 7. The app either dies, or complains “can’t check map updates” and becomes unresponsive. The latest app versions on both devices. iOS 16.5.1 If the app is started with internet connection present, then airplane mode can be turned on, but for how long??
