25 Positive User Reviews for Oxford Dict. & Conc. Thes.
Invaluable
As an actor this app is so helpful with defining and pronunciation.
Great, and improved UI
All you expect from the OED. The only thing I can complain about is the default start on the thesaurus. In fact, I’d probably prefer to see the dico and thesaurus entries integrated into the same view. But that’s a minor consideration.
Terrible interface
Why does the virtual keyboard disappear when I delete a previous word in the search box and try to type the new word I want to know about?
That’s very frustrating.
Good dictionary & terrible interface.
What a wonderful combination it is!
Good app for learning English
Good British pronunciation dictionary for English learner. The interface is also user friendly!
Shakespeare Pro
App is fine but does not transfer from my iPad to my iPhone. At $9.99 this is a ripoff. To add insult to injury, my free app on iPhone periodically sends push requests to upgrade to the Pro version, which I've already purchased once..
Missing some words
The application lacks some words. Today’s find included “grapnel” and I am sure to find others as I make my way through a colorful novel.
Fantastic resource
I use this all the time, usually to look up words, sometimes use thesaurus. It's the authoritative source, and is always available (whether or not I have internet).
Easy to use.
This dictionary is really great.
Oxford Dict
This is an excellent word reference.
The best
The best, most authoritative dictionary I know. I use it everyday.
A near daily companion
I marvel that within my pocket lies the equivalent of the two large tomes that stand as sentinels upon my desk, guarding me from making even more linguistic mistakes that seem to find their way into my drafts.
OED
Excellent reference; I use it several times almost every day. It has become essential to my work and general education
OXFORD DICTIONARY
THIS DICTIONARY IS FANTABULOUS.
IT HAS IMPROVED MY WRITING AND HASN
HELPED MY COMPREHENSION OF ADVANCED
MANUSCRIPTS.
ROBERT MOORMAN
Not enough
There doesn’t appear to be a concise OED in this volume. Much too lean, and not what I expected.
Love it
Great app, very helpful and fun.
Invaluable
As an actor this app is so helpful with defining and pronunciation.
Very beneficial...
Good to have this level of info...
Perfect
Have no problems with this dictionary. Thesaurus is great too.
Oxford Dictionary of English app
I love this app! Also includes a great thesaurus, a valuable writing tool. I use it all the time. 5 stars! Go Oxford English!
Great, but could be better.
More words please! I want a more comprehensive dictionary and thesaurus with even more words!
If you want pure, unadulterated English, there is no better choice.
Want the best dictionary of true English? I do. And I’ve been born, raised, and retired in New England these sixty five years. Enough said.
Miss C
Word of the day presents simple every day words. Definitions are extremely simplistic. The hardback version of this dictionary is wonderful. The app is poorly done.
Good dict. Bad usability.
Good dictionary. Minus 2 stars for insanely annoying message that forces you to leave this review every time you open it.
Pretty good, but need more detailed descriptions and sample sentences.
Hope dictionary to be default in the future or remembered last choice option.
It just works
Outstanding and highly usable app that just works. I do a lot of heavy academic writing at a graduate level and manuscript preparation for peer-review journal submission, and I benefit greatly from this app.
