45 Positive User Reviews for WordReference Dictionary
This is the app I use the most, it’s tremendously resourceful and I find it very amusing to go on the forums. It’s true that it requieres a good connection, I’d love to be able to download the dictionaries. Thanks to the people that participate on this website!
An excellent online dictionary. Not just a translator, it gives the context and various uses of words, just as the best bilingual dictionaries do.
This app is LOADED with information. It is an English dictionary in its own right, along with translations, including parts of speech and pronunciation, both written symbolically as well as recorded for playback out loud. Furthermore, it has synonyms and complete conjugations of verbs in the selected language (very useful in French!). My favorite part is the sample sentences in both English and the foreign language, to demonstrate the various senses of a word. I can’t recommend this app enough f
How can you help me to rid of those annoying commercials? Thanks
Lo mejor para traducir
If you want to learn a language this app is much more helpful than google translate. You can’t translate whole sentences but it gives you multiple definitions for each word, like a typical dictionary would. It’s a really great resource that I definitely recommend
awesome app/site(its available .com too) i found this when a teacher recommended it to me and its been very helpful when i cant find a good word for something. love this app sm, 100% recommend to anyone and everyone
I suppose that’s one of the best dictionaries that I’ve been using. I’m using it for learning French and I’m totally satisfied.
Other than that is very good
Great for school and university studies
I don’t see why there can’t be a simple indication of how to close the annoying white page. I have to go back and forth several times before I can get e.g. the conjugation page. I would rather buy the app and have it work than get it for free and have it be such a pain to use.
The dictionaries themselves are amazing; I use them all the time. However, when I open the app and search a word right away, the whole app freezes. To get around this, I have to wait a couple of seconds, then type my word slowly. This gets annoying over time, and I wish it could just get fixed. ‘Tis my only complaint lol
I know that everything is not perfect and that everything costs to create it. For me the application meets the needs I have. However, I find the user interface too out of date. In this age of minimalist design this app looks very academic and saturated. Still, it's not hard to use, but it could do with a more modern redesign. I have used it for years and have never seen a makeover.
First - it’s the best multilingual dictionary i found out there, if you want to learn a language. As for the app - THANK YOU for finally introducing dark mode! Yay! Please improve it by adjusting the keyboard for dark mode as well, and adjusting the color scheme to be a bit more compatible.
why suddenly is this app in dark mode. how can we change that back to the traditional white background?
I use the app very often but it freezes a lot! That is very annoying. Me encanta esta aplicación pero se traba/congela con mucha frecuencia.
Lo vengo usando de años. Me encanta.
…it has some quirky instabilities.
I love the app; however, every time I open it, it freezes, so I must close it and reopen it every time I want to look up a word. Please fix this!!!
Similar to the website version, needs to clear so it is easy to continue to look up translations
You really don’t need anything else. I use this all over the world
Outstanding, except for the annoying ad banners at the bottom of the screen. Please offer a paid, ad-free version or an in-app purchase to eliminate the ads. Thank you.
I love the app, as a language professional it comes in handy and it’s one of the tools I use while translating. My annoyance is from previous versions to this one, the audio cuts off when I have ly music app open. It makes zero sense.
Its awesome to have it available at all times in any language
I have various language dictionaries on my phone, but WordReference is the one I go to on a regular basis. Provided examples in the app make it easy to understand a word’s correct usage. And the verb conjugator is fantastic. Bravo!
Word Reference does work since I updated my iOS to 15.0. Help
How can you help me to rid of those annoying commercials? Thanks
For me as an interpreter and translator this app is the Bible and the first place I check! It has helped in a hurry access the multitude and layered meaning and nuance of words! For me, as a professional, it is a must! BRAVA
I love Christmas in my moms tummy
Very helpful app when it works and doesn’t freeze up :-(
I use it primarily for English/Spanish translations but have also used it for simple German. Have used it for many years, and before there was a cellphone app. The forum is great too.
Truly the only spanish English translator app you should ever use. Could not be more comprehensive and always has phrases, not jus words. Back button can be buggy though.
Great app very helpful, that is when it works...
This is great to teach English as a Second Language ESL. It has pronunciation. Verb tenses and usage in simple sentences. It is fantastic. And for many other languages!!
As a foreign living in America, English is my second language, and I constantly use this app, daily! Thank you for all the features! Truely appreciate!
I use this almost every day. Extremely helpful. The crticisms i see here do not take into account the fact that it’s free.
I have various language dictionaries on my phone, but WordReference is the one I go to on a regular basis. Provided examples in the app make it easy to understand a word’s correct usage. And the verb conjugator is fantastic. Bravo!
Definitely has some issues. Doesn’t know the difference between schön and schon. No easy way to look up conjugation tables for verbs in German. And for some reason it has a link to translate every word into Spanish. Why?
I have used this website and app over the years and it’s a life safer! It is so detailed and how someone should learn a language.
So easy to use and efficient! Whenever I’m reading in French I consult Word Reference!
I love how it displays plenty of useful synonyms I can use when writing papers.
Terrific resource that could use more updates!
Periodically the site turns grey and will not show a translation except in the French verbe column—sometimes. Not sure how to correct this. Help!!
This is my go-to app (and website) for English-French translation. It is very well organized and provides example sentences to help provide context and shades of meaning. The interface and text is too small and crowded for mobile.
It’s stuck in 2005, even the logo and the cluttered design. The website and the app need to be redesigned.
