I’ve reading The New Yorker regularly for almost ten years. Their articles are high quality, well documented and varied. However, the app hasn’t evolved. No dark mode. No dark icon. No background player. Come on, guys! Seriously I still have to read at night as if there was a summer sun behind the screen?

Cant have narration audio while phone asleep or app closed

Eye watering white backround makes reading near impossible after 30 minutes - unless I am wearing sunglasses. It is unnacceptable in 2023 to not offer Dark Mode for an app meant to be read.

I use the app so I can read the magazine offline. But the app is always signing me out for no reason, which doesn’t allow me then to sing back in and access the magazine when offline.

It never opens where I left off; their article rotation system forces me to immediately add articles to my library lest I risk losing them forever; it’s slow to load, not exactly pleasant to look at, etc etc

Love the crosswords! However the keyboard doesn’t work on the app and there’s no way to fix it, making it impossible to even attempt. There’s no option to bring up or put down the keyboard, it’s only halfway there. Can’t delete letters or put letters Z, X, C, V, B, N and M.

Beautifully built app, truly with the New Yorker design rubber stamp; it is thus all the most unfortunate that the audm embedded audio player (brilliant idea btw) does not work with all the articles in the background (IPhone 7+, iOS 13.3.1) I am sure this is a very fixable glitch and I will be looking forward to it - that would really make me a happy subscriber.
