18 Positive User Reviews for The Economist
Simply the BEST
I have been reading The Economist for over 40 years. It provides a consistent in depth presentation of the facts from a conservative British financial and European liberal social perspective.
Sleepless in California
I signed up to the Economist to get a global perspective to help my WallStreet investing, but I didn’t realize the Economist would be wildly entertaining! It’s a global Soap-opera! Bravo
The Economist
The best international news reporting and commentary around.
Mixed Feelings
The app is organized well, but there are limitations to easily seeing the details of your account. I also don’t like the limitations on notifications, as there is not an easy way to receive limited notifications for only newsletters or categories I care most about.
A+ journalism
Have been reading The Economist for 15+ years. Highest quality journalism, easy to use app, informative content.
Would Bring The Economist with me to a Deserted Island
While I prefer the print copy, the app allows me to read my favorite publication on the go as I travel, love it!
Five F&€King Stars
Econ professor told me to read this 25+ years ago. I’ve been hooked ever since. It’s all the news you need. This is odd. I feel like I’m reviewing Michael Jordan’s basketball skills.
Great writing & analysis
Get your news from people who are dedicated to clarity & depth, not your jerk pal’s Facebook feed.
Perf and UX issues
Content is great but there are regular issues around performance (eg laggy scrolls), getting logged out, and non-native or clunky UX (eg tapping images goes to an ugly full screen that can’t be swiped to dismiss).
Repeatedly Crashes
The Economist provides excellent journalism. However, in the last month, the app crashes more often than not when I try to read an article or listen to one.
Indispensable
My cocktail party chatter would Suffer greatly without The Economist
The Economist
Great content. But now, in the digital version, before EVERY article, an ad flashes on the screen preventing you from reading. Horribly disruptive even if it is only for a second or so. Ruins completely the reading experience.
6 Negative User Reviews for The Economist
Fix the audio player!!
Fix the audio player!! Including the queue! Build in a “sleep timer”, for automatic shutoff of audio playback after a certain amount of time, please! Allow the user to rearrange the audio queue, please! It is as if the 2026 app version audio player is worse than the 2018 version of the audio player was! Please and thank you!!
Sources from gambling sites?
Pretty good app but the reporting can be misleading. Would’ve done 4 stars but they’ve recently started referencing gambling sites for their reporting.
Why is a news agency reporting on the possible future? Not enough actual news going on? Give me the news let me digest it. Don’t offer me gambling odds as a report. Gross.
In all seriousness do they not realize those odds are manipulated, or can be quite easily?
Partisan Rag
The app works good but it’s a partisan rag. I’ve got plenty of criticisms of Trump, but I base mine in facts. I gave the same courtesy to Biden. This is a partisan rag.
Inconsistent App Experience
Some days, the app is unusable - constantly closing and doesn’t open the page it closed. No option to report an issue. No explanation for crashing. Other days, the app works fine. To pay a hefty annual subscription and have repeated issues accessing news online is frustrating.
Luckily, I have WSJ.
Buggy App
This review is only about the App, not the content itself (which I love and value). The app used to work better. Currently, it is buggy, slow and crashes a lot when I listen to audio. I hope it will be more stable in the future. The current experience is very frustrating.
Awful app, great content
Love the content. Unfortunately I like to consume it with the audio app, which is almost unusably buggy. The app frequently stops between tracks on your queue - sometimes you just have to hit “play” again, but frequently you get “something went wrong - please retry”, which then loops. You can then try pressing that a few times, or force-closing the app which also sometimes doesn’t work. All of this is annoying, but if you’re driving it’s a fatal flaw.
